Joel P. Mischke
May 6, 1948 – October 7, 2013
At age three Joel P. Mischke (pictured above) dreamed of being a cowboy, but God had other plans. Joel was an athlete, student, teacher, counselor, husband, father, coach, mentor, friend, listener, connector, visitor, popsicle distributor, traveling sage, and a self-described “helper.”
In recognition of Joel's 26 years of service to his Savior and Wisconsin Lutheran College - as director of admissions and dean of student success - the Joel P. Mischke 'Helper' Scholarship has been established at WLC.
The scholarship will benefit a returning WLC student who demonstrates promise via academic performance, leadership, service, and spiritual maturity. Student retention was one of Joel’s college responsibilities and his heart has always been one of encouragement and persistence related to student success.
Perhaps Joel advised you, mentored you, advocated for you, or just simply “helped” you. Your gift to the Joel P. Mischke 'Helper' Scholarship fund will allow his legacy of faithful service to continue as you "help" the students of tomorrow.
It is our hope to endow this scholarship so that two scholarships can be awarded to deserving students annually. Your gift will help us make this happen.
